How to find a potentiel employer?
You have all the tools at your disposal for your job search: a résumé, a cover letter, scenarios for telephone calls to employers, etc. You are now ready to create of list of potential employers and are wondering how to proceed. Here are a few suggestions:
• Target neighbourhoods, cities or regions that would be easily accessible (consider commuting time and distance: could you do this every day?) and where you would like to work.
• Decide whether you would prefer working for a smaller or larger company.
• Use the yellow pages to find a list of employers in your industry (names, addresses and contact information).
• Make use of specialized directories, such as the Emploi-Québec website (www.imt.emploiquebec.net) or the directory of Québec Manufacturers and Wholesalers (www.icriq.com), to find employers to contact.
• Other websites may be useful, namely the catalog of websites and services for the area of interest, such as www.toutmontreal.com or www.trouvezleamontreal.com for Montréal.
As a start, prepare a list of approximately 15 companies and get ready to make a few calls. Be confident and take ACTION.
Good luck to you!
