Make an assessment of your interview

Your interview: Self-assessment (3)

The interview is over. You did not speak badly of your previous employer, you demonstrated your skills admirably and you shared your career goals with your prospective employer. It is now time for you to assess your performance and review what was discussed. This leads us to the third topic:
How to evaluate and follow up on an interview
• Are you satisfied with how you presented yourself when you arrived at the interview?
• Think back to how you answered the interviewer’s questions. Were your responses thorough and supported by concrete examples?
• Were you well-prepared? Were you confident? Were you a persuasive speaker?
• Were there any questions or scenarios that you had not expected? How did you react to this?
Each interview is an experience… and also an opportunity to improve.
We recommend that you write a thank-you letter before the employer makes the final decision. If you met a screening committee, address your letter to the head of the committee and mention that you would like to thank the other members. Make sure you have their exact names and that you are using the correct contact information, and check for spelling errors.
You are now ready to receive a response… which we hope will be a positive one.

Good luck to you!
